About us
ALaLa Dance Fest is an international ethnic dance festival based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The festival explores the intersection of traditional cultural practices and contemporary performance, creating a platform where artists from different countries reinterpret their cultural heritage through dance, physical theatre, and interdisciplinary performance.
Rather than presenting traditional dance as a preserved artifact, ALaLa encourages artists to investigate how cultural memory, rituals, local identity, and embodied knowledge can inspire new artistic expressions.
Every edition revolves around a curatorial theme, inviting artists to create original works that respond to a shared concept while reflecting their own cultural background. The festival fosters artistic exchange, cross-cultural dialogue, and collaboration between local communities and international practitioners.
Vission
To become Southeast Asia’s leading international festival dedicated to ethnic dance and contemporary performance, creating meaningful cultural exchange between artists, communities, and audiences.
